Zoom H2 Recorder – Our New Toy

After years of using a Mini Disc recorder to capture band rehearsals and live gigs sound, we have finally taken the tumble into the 21st century and got ourselves a sweet new digital recording device, the Zoom H2 for you all you audio technical people.

So what does this mean and how has the Zoom H2 performed so far?

Well, for £160 it is not cheap but definitely well worth it. The recorder captures crisp, clear band rehearsals and with some very easy, clean switches we can set the recording level to suit even the loudest of rock volumes 🙂

Last week we used the recorder to instantly play back what we were jamming via the PA and then jam on top of the jammed recording. Check out the attached video of our drummer playing piano to a jam recorded minutes before he hit the piano.

Transferring the recording is such a breeze too, just click and drag the file via the USB connection and SD card on the player.

And we haven’t even got to the sweetest stuff yet, the recorder can record with two stereo mics, capturing drums up front and the rest of us at the back. All with a single click! So this and the fact that wav files are instantly created makes this device a no brainier in terms of the Mini Disc recording arrangement.

So the verdict is…well, really good news for you our fans and supporters. We will so easily be able to get practice recordings to you and also just use them ourselves to improve and just get better and better.
