The Miller Gig – 28 August 2014

While we struggled most of the year without a bass player, we had already lined up a gig long beforehand. It was the return of the family of Imperial bands, and the return of the big charity gig night. This one was organised at The Miller for children’s charity Evelina, and the theme of the night was Evelina rocks.

Aaron who played lead guitar for us from 2004-2006 offered to play bass for us, and we took this up. This unusually meant that for the first time in its history, all 4 members of DonkeyBox were now all alumni of Imperial College. The energy in the rehearsals was phenomenal, and preparing for the gig was a breeze. Aaron already knew many of the songs having played them on guitar, all he had to do was to relearn them on bass. There were new songs of course, but that didn’t take long to learn. The night was packed and a total hit. We were joined by Splink, Ember Daze and Between the Days. The final band is the one in which Matt and Greg also play. Not only that but we were once again joined by Martin on bass as guest bass player. 2014 was his guest bass year.

The set played on the night was:

  • Just Walk Away
  • Out of Power
  • Society Made Me
  • The Moment
  • Euphoria
  • Crap Day
  • Hypnotised
  • Pointless
  • The Score

Many thanks to all those who came down on the night, and making the night such a success, especially Aaron and Martin who played bass for us on stage.
